BPDA Approves Harvard IMP Change on Electronic Signs
On April 16, the Boston Planning and Design Association voted to approve Harvard’s change to the 2025-2035 Institutional Master Plan. Harvard initially filed the change on February 11 in order to add electronic signage, including digital posters, and kiosks on 175 North Harvard Avenue, the new location for the American Repertory Theater.
Allston Civic Association Meeting Monthly Meeting Highlights
On April 16, the Allston Civic Association met for their monthly meeting.
The meeting began with D-14 Boston Police Department Office Christine Marini providing the crime report. Marini provided an update on the shooting on Brighton Avenue on March 30. During the incident, two teenagers were reported to have gotten into an argument before one of them shot the other in the stomach. The teenagers both knew each other. The suspect later turned himself in.
In addition, Officer Marini reported on the additional crimes:
- Two attempted house break ins
- Three commercial break ins
- At least three bike thefts (Officer Marini noted that the bikes were all reported to be locked prior to be being stolen)
- Officer Marini noted that due to package theft, residents should try to get packages delivered to CVS or Staples for pick-up if they cannot get home right away.
Other highlights from the ACA meeting:
- Steve Postal is seeking a Common Virtualler license to open Revival Café + Kitchen, a cafe that will sell baked goods, sandwiches and coffee, at the lobby of East and West Lab at 1 Milestone Street. Postal said that the cafe will open in less than a month.
- Ama and Foxglove are seeking a live entertainment license. The restaurant has two parts: Ama on the first floor of the Atlas Hotel and Foxglove on the 16th floor. The owners hope to apply for a live entertainment license for Foxglove only to host DJ and small bands to provide music for ambience and special events, particularly on Friday and Saturday.
- McDonalds on 1223 Commonwealth Ave is seeking to extend their late-night delivery hours for food service deliveries. The current operating hours mean that the restaurant closes its doors to customers at 2:00 A.M. but continue delivery until 3:00 A.M. They are currently seeking approval to extend the delivery time from 3:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M.
- Robert Fusunyan is seeking to change 5 Aldie Street from a two family to a three family dwelling.
- The developers at 201-207 Brighton Avenue are seeking approval to build 145 residential units with 176 residential bike parking spaces and no vehicle parking. The developers filed a project notification on February 27. The current development has more units compared to their initial letter of intent, which proposed 96 residential units with 118 bike parking spaces and 10 off-street vehicle parking.
