This coming Tuesday (September 30 at 6-7:30pm), the Boston Planning Department will hold a public meeting to source feedback from community members for the proposal on 393 Cambridge Street. Past Meetings
1954 Commonwealth Avenue Public Meeting
On September 25, the Boston Planning Department held the public presentation for 1954 Commonwealth Avenue, which will be developed by Glenshane Properties. The proposed plan would transform the three-family house, which is currently unoccupied, into 16 units containing 49 bedrooms total (one studio, two one-bedroom and 23 two-bedroom units). This would involve building a new six-story building connected from the back to the original structure. The developers propose 9 parking spaces as well as 32 bicycle spaces (6 of which are for visitors). Construction is expected to take place from the second quarter of 2026 to the third quarter of 2027.
As part of its community benefits, the developers highlight that the project will create 26 new condominium units (including 4 affordable housing units), improved pedestrian access around the site, and 60 new construction jobs.
Public comment for the proposal is open. You can submit a comment here by October 2, 2025. Read the full proposal and presentation for the meeting.
